Fantasia on Greensleeves (1934) was arranged for flute and harp by the American flautist Jennifer Grady. Greensleeves was registered at Stationer's Hall, London, in 1575 as The Ballad of My Lady Greensleeves. The song tells of a girl whose lover gave her gifts but she refused to requite his love. Fantasia on Greensleeves has three sections. In the middle episode, a folk tune called Lovely Joan, collected by Vaughan Williams in Suffolk, is introduced.
