Carulli, Gustavo

(1801 - 1896)

Born in Livorno in 1801, Gustavo Carulli was the son of Ferdinando Carulli and the French Marie-Josephine Boyer. A pianist, guitarist, teacher of voice and composer, he tried with no success to establish an operatic career in France. After a short stay in London, he moved to Boulogne-sur-Mer, where he worked as a respected teacher, until his death.
