Reubke, Julius
(1834 - 1858)Son of the organ-builder Adolf Reubke, Julius Reubke studied in Quedlinburg and in Berlin, travelling to Weimar in 1856 for lessons with Liszt. His early death prevented the full realisation of his obvious gifts.
Organ and Piano Music
Reubke’s two organ sonatas,
in particular his Sonata on the 94th Psalm,
have retained a place in the repertoire of the instrument,
while his Piano Sonata elicited much praise from Liszt. All three works reflect the influence of Liszt.
